Newspaper headline 'Donor Dads Win Right To See Their Children.' Daily Mail Feb 1st 2013.

'A ruling in the Family Division decreed that a sperm donor need never have had a sexual relationship with a mother in order to have a say in the child's upbringing.' Daily Mail.

This is an interesting departure with far reaching consequences; in the future might donor father's later be pressed for child maintenance or a contribution to University fees? It will be interesting to see how far the tricky issues of modern paternity and maternity will play out in the courts. To me it is gratifying to know that the themes introduced in my novel Gene Genie are as relevant today as ever. This ruling is unlikely to lead to retrospective legislation, so past donors who were granted anonymity are unlikely to be affected, leaving the many thousands of children known as the 'lost generation' no nearer finding their true identity.
